Congratulations to Kathy Griffis from Gulfstream Goodwill Industries, West Palm Beach, FL!
CONTEST
Dozens of participants competed in this year's contest at the Solutions ITW booth during the GII Summer Conference. The challenge? To produce, tag, scan, and ring 10 items of clothing as quickly as possible.
All contestants were on equal footing since none had ever used Solutions POS to process donated goods or to ring sales before. Some had processing and cashiering experience; most did not. All in all, it made for an enjoyable and competitive atmosphere.
Contestants were allowed to compete as many times as they liked. While several admirable times were posted, the winning time of 1 minute and 4 seconds (01:04) posted by Kathy Griffis was enough to seal her victory. Congratulations to Kathy and to all the competitors. We enjoyed our time with all of you.
THE POINT
While we enjoyed our time with this year's competitors and made several new friends, there was a larger point behind the competition. We have been asked through the years if our system is simple enough to allow individuals from varied backgrounds and skill levels to succeed. Our answer is always a definitive, "Yes." This year, we decided to put that assertion to the test.
While the competitors were being trained on the system and gearing up their strategies, we took note of how long it took for them to learn the system. Participants varied in skill levels and in life experience. However, everyone was able to begin using Solutions POS (Production and POS) in just a few minutes, and the average time to process and ring the items was 1 minute and 38 seconds (01:38). The conclusion? Our experiment was a resounding success!
At Solutions ITW, our goal is to help all our clients succeed, from the processor to the cashier to the store manager all the way up to senior management. We have designed Solutions POS to help us achieve that goal, and it was fun proving that point at the Summer Conference!
